Steven Zander, violin/viola


Violinist and violist Steven Zander has performed to critical and audience acclaim across the U.S., Europe, and Japan, and has collaborated with some of the world's most celebrated concert artists.


An active performer, Mr. Zander has been a member of the Madison Symphony, the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, partnering with distinguished faculty from UW-Madison and The Juilliard School in the Bach, Dancing, & Dynamite Society, and performing extensively on radio and in concert halls nationwide. Mr. Zander has frequently performed with the Houston Symphony, and was recently featured on a concert celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Syzegy new music series with former principal members of the Houston and Boston Symphonies. Mr. Zander is also a member of the Malibu Coast Chamber Orchestra and a featured solo artist at the Malibu Coast Music Festival.


In addition to maintaining a private teaching studio, Mr. Zander was on the violin faculty of the Edgar Allan Poe Elementary School, a Houston-area arts magnet school, and has served as a guest instructor at Chelan Valley Suzuki Violins and the Boston Youth Orchestra's Intensive Community Project.


Mr. Zander holds a Master's Degree in violin performance from Rice University's renowned Shepherd School of Music, as well a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.


Maia Zander, violin/viola/cello

Maia Zander is one of the most exciting young talents on the concert scene, and is one of the United States' most creative pedagogues.

She has concertized and presented masterclasses throughout Western Europe and the United States, and is a favorite collaborator with many of today's finest artists, including pianist Robert Merfeld (of Apple Hill fame), with whom she presented a concert at Boston University honoring the 250th birthday of Mozart.

An avid chamber musician, Ms. Zander has been a member of the Galena, Hunt, Nomis and Cavaletta String Quartets, performing nationally and internationally on radio and in concert halls, and additionally presenting outreach programs for the underprivileged. She has served as concertmaster of the Sierra Chamber Orchestra, Waltham Philharmonic, Icicle Creek Chamber Orchestra, and the Boston University Symphony Orchestra on tour at Carnegie Hall and Boston's Symphony Hall. Ms. Zander is a member of the Malibu Coast Chamber Orchestra and continues to be a featured solo artist at the Malibu Coast Music Festival.

An innovative teacher, Ms. Zander has served as a faculty member of the Suzuki Strings of Madison, the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra's Intensive Community Project, and the Brookline Extension School. She is a fully certified Suzuki teacher, a degree she earned from the prestigious program at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Ms. Zander finished her doctoral studies at Boston University in May, 2007.
